Evening Ride Around Town August 31, 2016

Evening ride for an hour around town after work. Half the fun is finding a nice picture to take. Not sure why. Maybe I need a real camera and make it a hobby. Found these murals in downtown Pinole.

Highway 101 from home to LA and back August 25 - 27

My father was in the hospital down in LA so I needed to go visit him. How better to get there than by motorcycle. I took off Thursday from home around 10:30 and headed down Highway 101. Since I left late and did not want to get stuck in the late LA traffic I decided to camp at a place I have camped at before off Highway 101 with a pool and Jacuzzi so that I could take a soak in the evening.

The next morning around 7:00 I headed down to LA to the hospital to visit my dad. It was nice to see him and very nice that he was discharged to go home on the same day. Later in the evening, since it was getting late, I decided I would go back to the same campsite and stay another night so that I could have a nice relaxing ride home the next day.

Around 850 miles total. I was not too into stopping to take pictures, but did take a few.

Along Highway 101 on the way south...

My campsite - very nice resort, but from this picture it looks like a pen for animals...

Along Highway 101 in Ventura on the way north...

I noticed a mission right off the Highway 101 so stopped to take a picture...

Crockett Ride August 21, 2016

I wanted to get away for an hour. I took a ride to Port Costa and Crockett to see if I could find anything interesting to snap a picture of. I am still trying to find a nice spot for a picture of the Carquinez Bridge, but I can never seem to get close enough.

The one interesting thing I did see was the C & H Sugar Factory in Crockett so I took a picture of the building which was pretty neat. It appears very old, but from what I understand the factory still operates.

State Route 4 Ride to Angels Camp and Sonora August 20, 2016

I got a late start, but rode up State Route 4 to State Route 49 and over to Sonora. I was planning on riding the pass, but was a little too late when I go to Sonora so I decided to turn around and come back home. All in all still a great ride although hot.

First three pictures taken at Angels Camp.

Abandoned road off State Route 4 in the delta - Hard to believe there is water there, but under the green the delta water flows.

Berkeley Ride August 17, 2016

I had to ride to REI in Berkeley in the evening so I decided to stop by the Berkeley Marina while I was out that way.

Short Sunday Ride Around Town August 14, 2016

I had an hour or so for a Sunday ride. The plan was to ride to the Carquinez Bridge to see if I could get a good picture of the bridge and bike, but I never found a good spot. However, while riding through Rodeo to the bridge I noticed this mural and had to stop for a picture.

Evening Ride to Point Richmond August 10, 2016

Nice ride to Point Richmond in the evening to do some exploring close to home.

First, I took a ride over to Point Molate to see the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge...

Next, I went to the San Pablo Marina - what a bumpy ride...

I went through the tunnel at Point Richmond...

And finally I took a few pictures at the end of the road.

Carnegie SVRA Family Camput with the RV August 6 - 7, 2016

My family and I camped with the RV at Carnegie Saturday night.

My son and myself got some riding in and family time as well. Only two or three other campers out and it was very windy at night. Sure is nice to have the RV for camping.

I was out riding with my son and he got tripped up on a technical section so I stopped and walked up to him to lend a hand. I noticed to my right a structure I had never seen before although I have ridden past this area many times. I guess slowing down helps to take everything in. All the sign said that I could read was "Archeological Site." I believe  this is a mine shaft from the old Tesla Coal Mines.
