Carnegie SVRA May 20, 2016

I took Friday off from work and went for a ride at Carnegie, but had to be back by 3:00 to pick the boys up from school. I got there at around 9:30 and pretty much had the park to myself. In the last picture you can see a deer by the side of the trail - the thing was not concerned about me at all.

Angels Camp Ride May 14, 2016

I had a few hours to kill on Saturday so I headed up to Angels Camp on SR 4 since I have not been up this way since last year. They opened up Ebbetts yesterday at noon and wish I could have ridden over the pass, but not enough time today, but I will get there in a couple weeks and probably camp out to give me more time to enjoy the area. Overall a little over two hundred miles round trip.

Monterey Bay Ride May 11, 2016

I took a ride to Monterey and back. A little under 300 hundred miles. Was foggy in the morning, but cleared up nicely in the afternoon.

Ride to Coloma and Highway 49 April 28, 2016

I took my first long ride after my busy work season today. I decided to ride up to Coloma and ride Highway 49. A very nice twisty ride once on Highway 49 and a very historical area since this is where gold was first discovered which started the gold rush.

I took Highway 80 to Highway 50 to Highway 49. Was all interstate until Highway 49. Was a great ride and had nice weather except that it was really windy out in the Sacramento Valley.

On the way home I stopped at In and Out Burger for lunch.

The first picture is an old jail from the 1800s. The second and third are the South Fork of the American River. The fourth picture is from a park I stoppled at on Highway 49. And of course, the last is where I stopped for lunch.

Carnegie SVRA April 21, 2016

I have been working for three months straight and now it is finally over. After looking at the XR400R sitting in the garage for the past three months (see previous post and how long ago) I finally had the opportunity to actually take it out for a ride at an off road park. I headed over to Carnegie and went for a spin by myself which was an absolute blast. I rode dirt bikes as a kid until I broke my leg badly racing and that was it as far as my parents were concerned. I had a great time riding the trails. I also had a great time riding the motocross track and had plenty of air time on the jumps. Funny how it all comes back. This weekend I will take my son with me so that he can try out his bike and I hope he has as good of a time as I did today.

2000 XR400R and TTR 125 February 4, 2016

I have been looking for a dirt bike for myself and also one for my son. I found a nice 2000 XR400R in great condition and well cared for. I also found a nice 2002 TTR 125 in great condition for my son since he has started to show interest in riding. Picked up both bikes Thursday February 4, 2016. I took the XR out to an open lot for a quick ride Saturday and the thing is a beast and is going to be fun. I also took my son to the same lot Saturday so that he could try out his TTR for the first time. He has never been on a bike before so we started with clutch control and within an hour he was doing figure eights and shifting gears with a big smile on his face. He had a great time and I am glad he took to it so easily. We will practice a few more times at the lot to let him get more feel for the bike before going to an OHV park with the RV.

Finally a Day Without Rain Ride January 24, 2016

We finally had a day without rain and it was nice and sunny so I had to go for a quick ride after spending the day with the family. Went out Bear Creek Road to Orinda and hopped on the 24 Freeway and looped back home via the 680 to the 4.
